The WRT54G has a local address of 192.168.1.1 and assigns all wired & wireless IP addresses from the 192.168.1. Since then I've also gotten standard DSL service from AT&T which uses the typical phone line connection and, this time, a Pace 5268AC Gateway.
It took me a while to find the appropriate firmware version of this device.
I find DD-WRT's web site a bit chaotic to find the right firmware..
Open your favorite web browser and input your routers ip address in the address bar. In 'Start' & 'End' enter the ports to be forwarded.
Please note that you must have the in order to connect to your router/modem properly. Click here Some router/modems require a username and/or password, if yours requires it, enter the routers username and password here. Example: 2100 to 2200 or 3000 to 3000 For 'Protocol' select the protocol for the ports. Once you have added all your ports click 'Apply Settings' Click To View Full Picture All done!
To my initial dismay, I found that the VDSL modem could not function without the AT&T 2Wire Router.
This was a problem for me as the 2Wire Router is limited in functionality and I was used to administering my home network using a Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT firmware installed. If you don't know it you can check our list of default router and modem password list here. For 'IP Address' put the local IP of the computer the ports will be forwarded to. If you have changed it and don't remember it you may have to reset your device to factory default using the reset button on most routers. Then click "Save Firewall" to let the router remember about it on the next reboot.Last step is to connect the routers together and test the communication between the two subnets and check if both of them has access to Internet.I used this firmware load to allow me to assign static IPs, MAC Address Filtering, and reasonably complex Port Forwarding.I did a little bit of Googling & some experimenting and ended up with a solution I was happy with.To block specific IP addresses on your DD-WRT router, you’ll need to set static routing rules. These rules ensure your network traffic will not flow through the IPs you specified.Certain streaming services will function more reliably if you block specific IP addresses on your router. This guide will show you how to block specific IP addresses on DD-WRT routers, using two Google DNS server addresses as an example (188.8.131.52 and 184.108.40.206).
