The program also houses the Cheuse Center for International Writers, named after the late Alan Cheuse, a longtime faculty member and acclaimed writer.The center sends MFA students abroad to research and study, and also brings international writers to the campus to study and collaborate with students.
The program’s Visiting Writers Series brings twelve writers to campus every year (six each semester) for intense classroom experiences capped at ten students, readings that are open to the public and that offer networking opportunities for MFA students.
Since Cassill's death in 2002, he has been the sole editor of that anthology, bringing out the 7th and 8th editions.

Kathleen earned her MFA in creative nonfiction from the University of Pittsburgh. MISHLER’s collection of poems, Termination Dust (Boreal Books/Red Hen Press), was a finalist for a 2015 Lambda Literary Award.
